A Women Owned & Operated Trauma Healing Practice by (Margaret) Peggy Johnson, LPC-MHSP
Wisdom Within is all-inclusive practice. I welcome individuals of all backgrounds regardless of race, ethnicity, faith, religion, gender expression, or sexual orientation.
Whether you or your child are dealing with the aftermath of trauma, struggling with overwhelming emotions, going through a difficult life transition, unhappy or unfulfilled in your relationships, or seeking more meaning and purpose in your life, we are here to help.
Taking the first step in any direction is often the most difficult. You’re not alone.
Whether you are dealing with the aftermath of trauma, struggling with overwhelming emotions, going through a difficult life transition, unhappy or unfulfilled in your relationships, or seeking more meaning and purpose in your life – I am here to help.
Who I Serve
I provide individual counseling for adults only (age 18+). I do not work with children or adolescents.
our Process
Finding the right therapist can be challenging, which is why I provide a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to give you an opportunity to learn more about me and my methods. This is also a time for me to find out what is bringing you counseling and to see if I might be able to help you.
Pricing
My fee is $175 for an initial 60-minute intake appointment and $150 for subsequent sessions. If you wish to use insurance, all co-pay/co-insurance payments are due at the time of service and payable by credit/debit card.
I am able to offer reduced fees on a limited basis, dependent upon client need and my availability, through the Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. If you believe you need reduced fees in order to participate in therapy, please discuss this with me prior to scheduling your first session.
Key Values
- Authenticity – The way I am with clients is the same way I am in my personal life.
- Honesty – I don’t lie and won’t tell someone what I think they want to hear.
- Curiosity – I am truly interested in how you view yourself, the world around you, and your place in it.
- Acceptance – I accept you as you are and where you are, without exception.
- Advocacy – I will help you learn to advocate for yourself, and I will advocate for you when needed.
- Collaboration – I’m not the boss! You inherently have the answers to all of your questions inside of you. It’s my job to help you find them.
Person-Centered counseling grounded in psychodynamic theory.
I work primarily with a combination of somatic and cognitive techniques. With training in sensorimotor psychotherapy, which is a body-oriented talking therapy developed by Pat Ogden – we weave together a blend of cognitive and emotional approaches, verbal dialogue, and physical interventions to address the neurobiological effects of trauma (Ogden, 2002; Fisher 2003).

I know what it’s like to feel as though the emotional pain you’re experiencing will never go away and that no one can possibly understand what you’re going through. I know what it’s like to see everyone around you seeming to have it all together and to feel like you’re barely hanging on. I also know what it’s like to journey through all of that and come out the other side. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. That light is you.
“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we find the infinite power of our light.”
A quote by Brené Brown that may have you thinking, “that’s all well and good, but I’m not brave.” If you’ve read this far, there is bravery in there somewhere! I can help you find it, and am brave enough for both of us until you do.
Think of a therapist as a trusted trail guide, who joins you on your journey to a destination of your choice, from the first step to the last, safely.
When the terrain gets rough, your guide holds your hand and shows you how to navigate the trail. When you get tired, your guide helps you find the motivation to continue. When you become so exhausted that you can no longer walk, you guide is there to carry you – and your enormous backpack of “stuff” without judgment. Your guide is by your side as you marvel at the view from the summit. Working with a skilled therapist provides a safe space to help you uncover inner resources, gain insight and clarity, and provide new ways of thinking about yourself, your relationships, and your place in the world.
The past has the power to influence our emotions, behaviors, and beliefs. Thus, we’re here to guide you on a journey of finding solutions that exist within you.
Rather than focusing on the story, I focus on how the body interpreted the information and how that has affected your beliefs about yourself and the world around you, as well as its effects on your emotions and behaviors. Somatic techniques are not right for every client, which is why I offer other techniques to best meet your individual needs. Some of these techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness.
